Congolese artist Gims, whose real name is Gandhi Djuna, was placed in police custody Wednesday as part of an investigation into alleged money laundering linked to an organized network, French media reported.
According to Paris Match, the 39-year-old is currently being questioned under the authority of investigating judges from the Paris prosecutor’s office specializing in organized crime.
Sources said Gims was detained upon arrival at Paris Charles de Gaulle Airport by France’s judicial customs authorities. The investigation concerns a complex international money laundering network involving companies registered in multiple countries, allegedly used for tax evasion, issuing false invoices and laundering proceeds from illicit activities.
The questioning is part of broader efforts by French authorities to dismantle cross-border financial crime networks and hold all parties involved accountable.
Gims remains under investigation, with authorities expected to uncover further details regarding the scale and origins of the funds involved.
