Egypt’s Pyramids FC have filed an official complaint with the Confederation of African Football against Mauritanian referee Dahane Beida following their elimination from the CAF Champions League.
The move comes after Pyramids were knocked out of the competition by Morocco’s AS FAR, who secured a 2-1 victory in Cairo to advance to the semifinals.
In their complaint, the Egyptian club alleged that the officiating team failed to award two penalty kicks during the match. One incident reportedly occurred in the first half and was not given despite a VAR review, while another involved a challenge on player Youssef Obama inside the penalty area in the second half.
The complaint also raised concerns about the management of stoppage time and the protection of players from aggressive challenges during the match.
Pyramids have called for an investigation into what they described as decisive incidents that affected both the match result and their campaign in the tournament.
AS FAR advanced on aggregate after drawing 1-1 in the first leg before winning 2-1 away, and will face RS Berkane in the semifinals.
