The Moroccan Embassy in Senegal called on Moroccans residing in the country to exercise restraint, remain vigilant, and act with a strong sense of responsibility after CAF awarded Morocco a 3–0 victory over Senegal following an appeal.

In an official statement issued Tuesday, the Moroccan embassy recalled that “sport should remain a means of bringing people together and strengthening brotherhood and mutual respect,” emphasizing that “the match’s outcome cannot justify any escalation or inappropriate reactions.”

The embassy urged Moroccans in Senegal to “remain calm and exercise good judgment in their daily interactions and on digital platforms, while strictly respecting local laws and regulations and maintaining courteous conduct in all circumstances.”

The statement also commended Senegalese authorities for their care of Moroccans and their property since the final, reflecting the values of “Teranga and Senegal’s renowned hospitality.”

The embassy expressed its trust in the civic sense and maturity of Moroccans in Senegal and urged everyone to contribute to promoting respect, dignity, and peaceful coexistence between the two brotherly nations.

It also extended its gratitude and urged everyone to help “ease tensions and preserve the longstanding brotherly ties between Morocco and Senegal.”

The recent rulings by the Confederation of African Football (CAF) Appeals Jury came after the Moroccan Football Federation appealed the decisions of CAF’s disciplinary committee.

In late January, the committee had rejected Morocco’s complaint against the Senegalese federation, which had sought further sanctions under Articles 82 and 84 of the Africa Cup of Nations regulations.

Senegal’s football federation has just announced that it will appeal to the Court of Arbitration for Sport in Lausanne, calling CAF’s recent ruling unjust and unprecedented.
