Morocco has offered to host the Finalissima between Spain and Argentina after doubts emerged over the planned venue in Doha, as soccer officials from Europe and South America move toward a deadline to decide whether and where the match will take place, sources told Reuters.
The match between European champions Spain and Copa America holders Argentina was scheduled for March 27 at Lusail Stadium in Qatar.
The fixture has become increasingly uncertain after the Qatar Football Association suspended domestic competitions indefinitely following U.S. and Israeli strikes on Iran and retaliatory missile launches toward the Arabian Peninsula.
London has emerged as the leading alternative venue, according to sources familiar with the discussions who spoke with Reutes.
Morocco also signaled its readiness to stage the match, though Spain’s soccer federation has not supported that option amid tensions linked to the race to host the 2030 World Cup final.
Spain coach Luis de la Fuente said negotiations were underway to secure an alternative venue if Doha cannot host the match.
