An average of three Royal Air Maroc flights per week from Casablanca to Dubai International Airport have been canceled since the outbreak of war between Iran, the US, and Israel, an informed source inside the airline told Hespress AR.
Flights from Casablanca to Hamad International Airport in Qatar have been canceled daily since the conflict erupted.
“This impact is ongoing, and flights will gradually resume once the suspensions at these airports are lifted,” the source said.
It added that international civil aviation law in cases of force majeure requires waiting for operations to resume gradually, stressing that passengers’ rights remain protected.
Global air traffic was disrupted on Sunday after key Middle Eastern airports, including Dubai International, the world’s busiest international airport, were closed following military escalation that shut down large areas of regional airspace.
Authorities in the UAE and Qatar suspended or severely limited operations at Dubai, Abu Dhabi, and Doha airports, keeping much of the airspace closed to civilian traffic after a series of military strikes.
Flight-tracking platforms FlightAware and Flightradar24 reported thousands of affected flights, with many canceled or rerouted.
Air traffic maps showed on Sunday almost no civilian movement over Iran, Iraq, Kuwait, Israel, Bahrain, the UAE, or Qatar, highlighting the scale of the disruption.
Flightradar24 also reported that a new aeronautical notice extended the closure of Iranian airspace until at least 8:30 GMT on March 3, complicating plans to reschedule flights.
