Fuel prices in Morocco rose slightly Sunday, with diesel and gasoline each increasing by 0.25 dirhams per liter, after some distributors began applying the new rates late Saturday, industry sources tell Hespress AR.
The adjustment applies across Moroccan fuel stations, following expectations within the sector of a “modest increase” in early March. Sources said the change is part of routine market updates and is not directly linked to current geopolitical or military tensions in the Gulf and Middle East, though they noted that any effects from these events may appear later.
Industry insiders said it is customary for price updates to roll out progressively across fuel companies, with some implementing the new rates before others.
Before the adjustment, diesel, the country’s most consumed fuel, cost 10.57 dirhams per liter, while premium gasoline averaged around 12.26 dirhams per liter, with regional variations due to transportation and company pricing policies.
The March increase continues a fluctuating trend that began earlier this year. In January, diesel and gasoline prices fell by 0.65 dirhams and 0.44 dirhams per liter, respectively, before rebounding in February. Mid-February saw a previous 0.25-dirham increase per liter for both fuels, alongside smaller adjustments of 0.35 dirhams for diesel and 0.11 dirhams for gasoline.
The National Association of Fuel Station Operators in Morocco previously told Hespress AR that these adjustments reflect routine market mechanisms established since 2015 and can vary by company.
