Morocco is expected to experience generally stable weather from Saturday through early next week, with a noticeable rise in temperatures over the weekend followed by a slight decline starting Monday, the General Directorate of Meteorology said.
Houssine Youabed, the agency’s communications officer, said Saturday will bring stable conditions across most of the country, along with a marked increase in temperatures, particularly in inland and southern regions.
Low clouds accompanied by fog or light local drizzle are forecast during the morning and night over the northern and central Atlantic plains, as well as the northwest of the southern provinces.
Nighttime conditions are expected to remain relatively cold, with possible localized frost in the Atlas Mountains, the Rif and the eastern region.
Relatively strong wind gusts are also expected in the southern provinces, potentially causing blowing dust.
High temperatures on Saturday are forecast to range between 6 and 13 degrees Celsius in the Atlas Mountains; 20 to 27 degrees in the eastern region and along the northern Atlantic plains and southeastern areas; and 28 to 35 degrees in Souss, the central Atlantic plains and the northern parts of the southern provinces. Other regions are expected to see highs between 13 and 20 degrees.
Stable conditions will persist Sunday, with a further increase in daytime temperatures. Low clouds, fog and light local drizzle are expected to continue over the Atlantic plains.
Cold conditions are forecast during the morning and night, with localized frost in mountainous and high plateau areas. Winds are expected to be moderate to relatively strong in the southern provinces, with recurring dust activity.
Minimum temperatures Sunday are expected to range from 0 to 4 degrees in the Atlas Mountains, 4 to 7 degrees in the eastern highlands, and 16 to 20 degrees in the southern provinces and locally in Souss. Other areas will see lows between 8 and 12 degrees.
On Monday and Tuesday, weather conditions will remain generally stable, with relatively cold mornings and nights and localized frost in the Atlas, Rif and eastern regions.
Dense low clouds with fog or light drizzle are expected along the Atlantic plains and Mediterranean coast.
Moderate to occasionally strong winds are forecast in the southern provinces, accompanied by blowing dust. Daytime temperatures are expected to decline slightly.
From Wednesday through next Sunday, the agency forecasts partly cloudy to occasionally overcast skies over the northern half of the country on Wednesday and Thursday.
Relatively strong winds are expected in the Atlas Mountains, the southeast, the eastern region and the southern provinces, along with a general drop in daytime temperatures across much of the country.
