Morocco’s National Union of Higher Education said it will launch an escalating protest plan against Higher Education Minister Azzedine Midaoui, starting with a two day national strike on 3 and 4 March and a centralized protest in Rabat.
The plan includes freezing university bodies and suspending duties of program coordinators and department heads, the union said, while keeping its administrative committee in open session and reconvening on 12 April to assess the first phase.
Union figures told Hespress they want sector talks restarted under new conditions and pushed for changes linked to the higher education reform framework, including how implementing texts and the statute for lecturer researchers are drafted.
