Morocco is a strategic country for Safran thanks to its modern infrastructure, stable macroeconomic framework and recognized talents, said the Chairman of the French Group’s Board of Directors, Ross McInnes.

“Our historic anchoring in the Kingdom, for more than 25 years, showcases our will to further invest in a country with modern infrastructure, a stable macroeconomic framework and recognized talents,” McInnes emphasized in an address delivered during the presentation and launch ceremony of the project to build in Nouaceur a landing gear production factory for the Safran Group, chaired on Friday by HM King Mohammed VI at the Royal Palace in Casablanca.

“Morocco is a strategic country for Safran,” he maintained, assuring that the future factory is much more than a simple industrial investment: it reflects the importance that the Kingdom grants to the French Group, which has a dozen sites in Morocco, located at the heart of Safran’s global production system and contributing to its industrial performance in key activities (aircraft engine maintenance, aircraft wiring, aircraft nacelles, engine and landing gear assembly, etc.).

“This industrial hub, one of the world’s largest factories for equipment and landing gear, will be built to state-of-the-art standards and equipped with modern, high-performance production facilities,” continued the Chairman of the Board of Directors of the Safran Group. He noted that this new site will house high-tech processes and key expertise, enabling the Group to support the production ramp-up of the Airbus A320 family and prepare for the next generation of short- and medium-haul aircraft.

“Furthermore, this factory will play a major role in developing a resilient and agile industrial footprint with short supply lines, as it will be located in close proximity to Safran’s current assembly sites and Airbus’s European assembly lines,” he specified.

“Representing an investment of over 280 million euros, this project—which will eventually create 500 jobs and be powered by 100% carbon-free energy—will also bring new suppliers in its wake within the Moroccan ecosystem,” he added.

After recalling the launch last October, presided over by HM the King, of Safran’s aircraft engine industrial complex, McInnes expressed his delight at “continuing this technological saga with Morocco and taking the Kingdom on a new adventure: the production of particularly critical onboard aircraft systems—landing gear.”

On this occasion, the Chairman of the Board of Directors of the Safran Group wished to express his sincere gratitude for hosting the launch event of Safran’s new project in Morocco at the Royal Palace.

“This reception testifies to the importance Your Majesty places on the Kingdom’s industrial development and highlights the unprecedented industrial momentum spearheaded by Your Majesty to make the Kingdom a globally competitive industrial hub,” he stated, reiterating the Group’s commitment to work with determination to make its projects in the Kingdom a model of shared success.
