Moroccan families in eastern France are calling for urgent consular support after a school instructor in Belfort was suspended over allegations of sexual misconduct involving minors, including children of Moroccan descent.
Asma Jellouch, mother of two Moroccan girls, said at least ten families reported that their children were subjected to suspicious behavior by the teacher, who taught computer classes and provided private tutoring, often to children from immigrant families to help with French language skills.
Jellouch described how some children began showing psychological distress, including sleep disturbances and fear of attending school, before parents reported the incidents to authorities. She said prior internal warnings by school staff were handled administratively without notifying police.
She also highlighted procedural obstacles for victims, with families facing a “catch-22” in obtaining medical examinations required for filing police complaints.
Affected families are urging the Moroccan Consulate in France to provide legal and psychological support, translation services, and coordination with French authorities to ensure the protection of the children and proper handling of the case.
“Moroccan children abroad are not second-class citizens,” Jellouch said. “Their physical and psychological safety is a shared responsibility that cannot be neglected.”
