Education authorities in Kenitra province have ordered an exceptional suspension of classes in several municipalities, citing heightened flood risks caused by severe weather conditions.
The provincial directorate of the Ministry of National Education, Preschool Education and Sports in Kenitra said it decided, in line with recommendations from the provincial monitoring committee, to suspend classes starting Monday, Feb. 2, 2026, until further notice. The measure applies to all public and private educational institutions located within the jurisdiction of seven municipalities.
In an informational statement addressed to students, families and teaching and administrative staff, the directorate said the suspension covers the municipalities of Souk Tlat El Gharb, Sidi Allal Tazi, Mogrene, Benmansour, Sidi Mohamed Benmansour, Mnasra and Oulad Slama.
The decision follows what the directorate described as exceptional weather and climatic conditions affecting the country, which have led to rising water levels in rivers and wadis across the province and increased risks of flooding. Authorities said the move was taken in coordination with security services and local authorities and aims to ensure the safety of students and education staff.
The Kenitra provincial directorate said it will continue to keep the public informed of any developments through official communication channels, stressing that the decision reflects a commitment to transparency, responsibility and the protection of all members of the education community.
