Agadir professors tell higher education minister they were threatened to pass failing students

Professors at the National School of Applied Sciences (ENSA) in Agadir have blown the whistle on alleged manipulation and intimidation within the institution, according to an official complaint sent to Morocco’s Ministry of Higher Education, Scientific Research, and Innovation.

The complaint accuses the school administration of pressuring staff to pass students who do not meet legal and academic requirements.

The professors say the pressure has escalated to threats of physical assault and organized smear campaigns on social media.

They report that administrative pressure has been applied directly to force the acceptance of grades that violate university regulations, even though official inspection reports confirmed the exams were conducted correctly and all course files were in order.

An inspector from the Ministry personally reviewed exam papers and deliberation records, concluding that there was no justification for changing any results.

Despite this, the vice president of Ibn Zohr University allegedly demanded that second-year preparatory exams be re-evaluated to favor specific students, a move the professors refused, calling it a clear breach of the law.

The complaint also reveals a shocking incident on November 25, 2025, when outsiders broke into an official grading meeting.

During the intrusion, one professor was reportedly threatened with physical harm inside the administration offices. The professors describe the event as “an unprecedented incident in the history of Moroccan universities.”

In addition, professors claim legal rulings in favor of some students were deliberately delayed while coordinated online campaigns attempted to pressure the professors through public shaming rather than following proper legal procedures.

The faculty is now calling on the Minister of Higher Education for urgent intervention, demanding the enforcement of Article 19 of the General Statute of the Civil Service and the launch of an independent administrative and judicial investigation.

The professors’ aim is to protect the integrity of the university, safeguard the reputation of academic staff, and uphold the principle of merit, which is essential for the credibility of Moroccan university degrees.
