Local authorities and public services are continuing field operations in Al Hoceima to strengthen preventive measures against flood risks, officials said.
The Regional Multiservices Company of Tangier Tetouan Al Hoceima, in coordination with the provincial natural risk management service, is carrying out cleaning and maintenance of wastewater networks and rainwater inlets to prevent blockages that could hinder the flow of stormwater.
The measures form part of precautionary programs launched after the summer season and implemented on a continuous basis to manage excess rainwater, according to the Regional Multiservices Company.
The wastewater network in Al Hoceima includes four treatment plants that process more than 4.3 million cubic meters annually, a drainage network extending over 663 kilometers, and 41 pumping stations.
Provincial director Souhail Soujaa said the operations aim to reduce risks linked to sudden storm runoff by improving infrastructure performance and ensuring the smooth evacuation of rainwater.
The program is overseen by a coordination unit bringing together the utility, local authorities, the provincial risk management service and the National Meteorology Directorate.
