Following Royal directives from King Mohammed VI, the Moroccan government has launched a comprehensive program to rehabilitate areas affected by the exceptional floods that struck the city of Safi on Sunday, Dec. 14, 2025. The floods, caused by unprecedented heavy rainfall, resulted in human casualties and extensive damage to neighborhoods, buildings, and essential infrastructure.

A government statement said the program is designed to ensure rapid and effective intervention and to meet the immediate needs of affected residents.

Measures include emergency assistance to families who lost personal belongings, repair and restoration of damaged homes, and reconstruction of affected commercial premises, alongside support for business owners. All actions aim to uphold residents’ dignity, guarantee decent living conditions, and strengthen community resilience, in line with the King’s directives.

The program mobilizes human and logistical resources and reinforces coordination among all relevant actors. Local authorities are tasked with promptly implementing the planned measures to provide immediate relief and ensure systematic execution of the rehabilitation efforts.

The statement concluded that the program “reflects the Kingdom’s continued commitment to addressing natural disasters, underscores the special care King Mohammed VI extends to citizens, and embodies a comprehensive, solidarity-based approach that combines sustainable rehabilitation with future risk prevention.”
