Under the directives of King Mohammed VI, the Mohammed V Foundation for Solidarity has launched a nationwide operation to assist residents affected by the ongoing cold wave in several regions of Morocco.
According to a statement from the foundation, the initiative aims to provide urgent humanitarian support, including essential food supplies and blankets, to vulnerable populations. The operation is being implemented in coordination with the Ministry of Interior and targets 28 provinces experiencing low temperatures and heavy rainfall or snowfall.
The foundation said approximately 73,000 households will benefit from the aid. Teams of social workers, doctors, and other staff from the foundation’s General Directorate of Social Services within the Royal Armed Forces will conduct field operations. Their work is supported by local authorities, the Royal Armed Forces, and the Royal Gendarmerie to reach remote villages and mountainous areas.
The operation is part of the foundation’s broader efforts to respond to extreme weather events and protect Morocco’s most vulnerable communities.
