Authorities in Tinghir province announced on Saturday the closure of several national, regional and local roads due to heavy snowfall and torrential rain affecting the area since Friday evening.

According to official sources, Regional Road 317 linking Tinghir to Azilal was closed at Tizi n’Aït Ahmed because of snow accumulation. Provincial Road 1521 was cut off near the village of Tourza in Aït El Fersi commune following flooding of Oued Argh, while Provincial Road 7104 connecting Aït Hani and Tamlalt was also closed due to snow.

Regional Road 704 between Tinghir and Midelt was shut, with barriers installed near Aït Ali Ouykou in Tamlalt commune. Snow barriers were also placed on National Road 12 at Tizi n’Tghrouzine in Aït Hani, as well as on Regional Road 108 linking Iknioun, Tinghir and Zagora.

Local authorities urged motorists to exercise caution and follow traffic safety instructions. Emergency teams have been mobilized to reopen roads once weather conditions improve.
