Morocco tourism sector is heading for its strongest year on record after welcoming 18 million visitors by the end of November, more than 600,000 above the total reached in all of 2024, according to the tourism ministry.
The ministry said arrivals were up 13.5 percent year on year, crediting investments under the 2023 to 2026 roadmap including expanded air links, international promotion and a broader tourism offer.
Attention now turns to December, which industry leaders expect to crown what has already been a landmark year.
Morocco is days away from hosting the Africa Cup of Nations, an event professionals say will drive a winter spike in bookings as fans, teams and international media arrive.
Hotels in the six host cities are preparing for higher occupancy, while airlines, transport operators, restaurants and tour services expect a knock on boost tied to year end travel.
Tourism manager Marouane Choyoukh said the challenge is no longer just attracting visitors but converting growth into durable development, urging simpler administrative rules, fair classification of accommodation and stronger investment in rural and mountain areas.
Marrakech tourism official Mostafa Amalik said early results had already surpassed 2024 totals and pointed to a rare convergence of sport tourism and the holiday season as a recipe for a historic finish.
The ministry said sustained upgrades in fleets, standards and marketing had underpinned momentum, positioning December as a likely finale to a record breaking year for Moroccan tourism.
