Oubi Bachir Bouchraya, presented as an adviser to Polisario leader Brahim Ghali, was pressed on BBC Arabic over the United Nations Security Council resolution endorsing the Moroccan autonomy initiative and over conditions in the Tindouf camps in Algeria, according to Moroccan press accounts of the broadcast.
Asked whether Polisario would negotiate on the basis set by resolution 2797, which frames autonomy under Moroccan sovereignty as the political basis for talks, Bouchraya disputed that reading. The presenter replied that the wording of the resolution was explicit and pressed him to offer an alternative interpretation.
The exchange extended to Polisario diplomatic standing, with the presenter citing European support for Morocco. Bouchraya rejected the premise and limited foreign backing to France.
He also denied the presence of non Saharan nationals in Tindouf and was questioned about Polisario opposition to UN registration of camp populations, repeatedly urged in Security Council texts. When asked about Algeria position in the vote, he referred the matter to Algiers.
