The Appellate Chamber of the Court of Appeals in Casablanca has upheld the conviction of Mohamed Boudrika, the former President of Raja Casablanca football club, sentencing him to five years in prison.

The court, in a ruling issued on Wednesday afternoon, affirmed the initial judgment handed down by the Ain Sebaa Court of First Instance. The sentence also requires the former president of the Mers Sultan district to pay a fine exceeding 650,000 Moroccan Dirhams (MAD) and bans him from issuing checks for one year.

The Public Prosecution Office in Casablanca had indicted the former Member of Parliament on serious charges, including issuing bounced checks, fraud, forgery of a customary document and its use, and unlawfully obtaining and using an administrative certificate.

Throughout the investigation, Boudrika maintained his innocence, denying the charges and asserting that no technical forensic examination had been conducted on the document central to the dispute.

Boudrika’s case gained international attention when German authorities arrested him at Hamburg Airport in July 2024, acting on a notice issued by Europol in response to an international arrest warrant. He was recently extradited and handed over to Moroccan judicial authorities.

In addition to these criminal proceedings, Mohamed Boudrika was also previously removed from his position as President of the Mers Sultan district—a post he won in municipal elections—due to his absence from official duties for several months.
