Morocco’s under-20 national football team was named Africa’s best men’s team of 2025 on Wednesday during the CAF Awards ceremony held in the Moroccan capital, an event that drew prominent football figures from across the continent.
The Moroccan U-20 side won the award ahead of two strong finalists: the senior Moroccan national team and Cape Verde. All three teams were shortlisted for the final round.
The “Atlas Cubs” earned the honor after winning the FIFA U-20 World Cup earlier this year in Chile, a historic achievement for Moroccan and African football. The title marked the first time an Arab or African team captured the trophy, under the leadership of Moroccan coach Mohamed Ouahbi.
