A planned meeting between Russian President Vladimir Putin and former U.S. President Donald Trump has been postponed, though discussions about arranging it are continuing, a senior Kremlin official said Sunday.
Yuri Ushakov, an aide to Putin, told state broadcaster Rossiya-1 that the two sides had initially agreed to hold the meeting in Budapest.
“It was agreed to hold a meeting in Budapest, but it has been postponed for some time. Contacts on this matter are ongoing,” Ushakov said.
He added that organizing a summit between Putin and Trump “would not be difficult if an agreement to hold the meeting is reached.”
Trump has previously said he is open to meeting Putin, though no official date has been confirmed by either side.
