At the instruction of King Mohammed VI, General Mohammed Berrid, Inspector General of the Royal Armed Forces (FAR) and Commander of the Southern Zone, received Rwandan Army Chief of Staff General Vincent Nyakarundi on Tuesday in Rabat, as part of a working visit from November 10 to 14.
The meeting follows the military cooperation agreement signed between Morocco and Rwanda in June 2025, which outlines joint initiatives in training, logistics, and defense industry collaboration, according to a statement from Morocco’s General Staff.
General Nyakarundi praised the “excellence” of bilateral relations and described the visit as a milestone in expanding military coordination. Both commanders reaffirmed their intent to strengthen the existing partnership and extend its scope to regional peace and security missions.
The two countries have steadily reinforced ties since King Mohammed VI’s landmark 2016 visit to Kigali, which laid the groundwork for broader cooperation in development and security across Africa. The latest military talks mark another step in turning that partnership into a long-term strategic alliance focused on stability and capacity building.
