Morocco reached a record 35.5 million internet users by the end of October 2025, representing 92.2 percent of its population, according to new data from the global platform DataReportal.
The figures underscore the country’s rapid digital expansion, supported by major telecom investments and policy reforms aimed at strengthening connectivity.
The report noted that Morocco’s mobile subscriptions stood at nearly 57 million, more than the total population, reflecting widespread use of multiple SIM cards per person.
About 23 million Moroccans, or 59 percent of the population, are active social media users, highlighting how platforms like Facebook, TikTok and Instagram shape communication, marketing and entertainment habits.
Mobile network performance also improved, with average download speeds reaching 60 Mbps, slightly above fixed-line broadband speeds of 55 Mbps.
The increase is attributed to ongoing infrastructure upgrades and the phased rollout of fifth-generation (5G) mobile technology.
Analysts said Morocco’s digital rise is reshaping key sectors such as e-commerce, distance learning and smart services, in line with the government’s “Digital Morocco 2030” strategy to make technology a driver of inclusive growth.
Still, the report found that about 8 percent of residents, roughly 3 million people, remain outside full digital coverage, mainly in rural and remote areas, pointing to a persistent but narrowing connectivity gap.
