Morocco’s capital Rabat plans to introduce amphibious buses capable of operating both on land and water, offering visitors combined urban and river tours along the Bouregreg, the city’s regional transport agency said.
The project, led by Rabat Région Mobilité, is valued at 23 million dirhams ($2.3 million) and includes the supply, commissioning and maintenance of two amphibious vehicles. Each bus will feature panoramic seating, multilingual audio guides, and full accessibility for passengers with reduced mobility.
The vehicles will be equipped with corrosion-resistant designs and reinforced safety systems to ensure smooth transitions between road and river navigation.
According to project details, implementation will span 50 months, beginning with a 14-month delivery and launch phase followed by three years of maintenance and operational monitoring. The service could later expand depending on demand and performance.
