FIFA on Thursday unveiled the nominees for its annual The Best 2025 awards, with Moroccan internationals Achraf Hakimi and Yassine Bounou earning recognition among the world’s top footballers.
Hakimi, Paris Saint-Germain’s right-back, was listed among 11 contenders for the Best Men’s Player award, alongside Kylian Mbappé, Mohamed Salah, Harry Kane, and Lamine Yamal. It marks Hakimi’s third nomination, highlighting his consistency and attacking influence for both PSG and Morocco.
Goalkeeper Yassine Bounou, a key figure for Al-Hilal and Morocco’s national team, was also nominated for the FIFA FIFPro World XI, confirming his status as one of the sport’s elite.
Their inclusion underscores Morocco’s growing global football profile following its historic 2022 World Cup performance. The awards ceremony will take place in January 2026 in Zurich, where FIFA will reveal the final winners.
