Morocco’s High Judicial Council has approved wealth evaluations for six judges as part of a broad ethics and accountability campaign across the country’s judiciary, Justice Minister Abdellatif Ouahbi told Parliament on Tuesday.

Presenting the council’s 2026 budget before the Justice and Human Rights Committee, Ouahbi said the disciplinary reports reviewed by the General Inspectorate of Judicial Affairs reflected “a strong commitment to integrity and professional responsibility within the judicial system.”

From January to October 2025, the council examined 314 judges under 104 reports and issued disciplinary decisions involving 71 judges. Sanctions included warnings, temporary suspensions and mandatory retirement in several cases.

The minister said the inspectorate continued its central court-inspection program, covering 20 courts so far out of 26 planned this year, while the council issued nine advisory opinions on draft laws and decrees submitted by the Ministry of Justice and the General Secretariat of Government.

Ouahbi added that the oversight measures, combined with new awareness and training programs, aim to embed ethical conduct and reinforce public trust in Morocco’s judiciary as part of the kingdom’s wider justice-sector reforms initiated under the 2011 constitution.
