Dutch police said on Monday they arrested a minor in the southern town of Sittard on suspicion of involvement in terrorism and extremism following intelligence shared by Morocco’s domestic security agency, the General Directorate of Territorial Surveillance (DGST).
In a statement, Dutch authorities said the suspect was identified thanks to information provided by Moroccan intelligence under ongoing counterterrorism cooperation between the two countries.
The minor was taken into custody for questioning, and investigators said no further details could be released due to the sensitive nature of the case. The investigation remains in its early stages, with possible additional arrests or prosecutions not ruled out, police added.
The operation highlights Morocco’s expanding role as a key intelligence partner for European security services in counterterrorism and deradicalization efforts, particularly in cases involving cross-border extremism.
