Morocco’s seaborne imports of refined petroleum products rose by 5 percent year-on-year during the first nine months of 2025, reaching an average of 250,000 barrels per day, according to data from Energy Platform.

The figure represents an increase of 11,000 barrels per day compared with the same period last year, when imports averaged 239,000 barrels per day.

It also exceeds the annual average of 242,000 barrels per day recorded in 2024 and 223,000 barrels in 2023.

On a quarterly basis, Morocco’s oil product imports climbed to 254,000 barrels per day in the third quarter of 2025, up from 237,000 barrels during the same quarter of 2024.

The rise reflects Morocco’s continued reliance on imported fuels to meet domestic energy needs, particularly in diesel and fuel oil, as the country lacks sufficient local refining capacity.
