Morocco extended its historic unbeaten streak to 16 matches, surpassing Spain’s 2013 record, after a 1–0 victory over Congo-Brazzaville on Tuesday night in Rabat.
The Atlas Lions, led by an inspired Achraf Hakimi and a decisive Youssef En-Nesyri, closed their 2026 World Cup qualifying campaign on a triumphant note.
Dominant from the start, Walid Regragui’s men overwhelmed Congo’s defense with relentless attacks. Hakimi’s pace and precision repeatedly threatened the visitors’ goal, while Brahim Diaz and Ismaïl Saibari came close to scoring in the first half.
The breakthrough came in the 63rd minute, when Hakimi delivered a low cross from the right for En-Nesyri, who calmly slotted home the winner.
The Moroccan defense, solid and composed, contained Congo’s physical play to preserve the clean sheet. The result highlights Morocco’s continental dominance and technical maturity, confirming their status as one of Africa’s top footballing powers.
With this win, the Atlas Lions not only break a decade-old European benchmark but also send a strong signal ahead of the 2026 World Cup, positioning themselves among the most consistent national teams globally.
