Morocco registered 72,116 new businesses by the end of August 2025, according to the Moroccan Office of Industrial and Commercial Property (OMPIC). Of these, 51,979 are legal entities and 20,137 are sole proprietorships.
The data show a strong dominance of the commerce sector, accounting for 35.7% of new firms, followed by construction and real estate (19.9%), services (17.5%), and transport (7.6%). Industry represented 7.1%, while hotels and restaurants made up 5.8%, and ICT nearly 3%. Agriculture, fisheries, and finance each contributed less than 2%.
Regionally, Casablanca-Settat led business creation with 22,594 companies, ahead of Tangier-Tetouan-Al Hoceima (9,450) and Rabat-Salé-Kenitra (9,271). Marrakech-Safi and Fès-Meknès followed, with smaller numbers across southern regions including Laayoune-Sakia El Hamra and Dakhla-Oued Eddahab.
By legal form, single-member limited liability companies (SARL-AU) dominated at 65.3%, while standard SARLs represented 34%, reflecting Morocco’s continued entrepreneurial momentum despite economic headwinds.
