The Pentagon has awarded General Dynamics Land Systems a $27 million contract modification to provide technical support for Abrams tanks, with Morocco among the beneficiaries, according to a Defense Department announcement Thursday.
The deal, funded through the Foreign Military Sales program, also covers Australia, Egypt, Iraq, Kuwait, Poland, Saudi Arabia, and Taiwan. It brings the total value of the overarching Abrams support contract, first issued in 2022 under reference W56HZV-22-C-0012, to more than $1.06 billion.
Work will be carried out in Michigan, with completion expected by February 2027. The package includes upgrades to Abrams’ electronic systems, engineering improvements, and field support from technical experts.
Morocco has steadily expanded its fleet of Abrams tanks over the past decade, aligning itself with other U.S. partners in the region who rely on the platform as a backbone of their armored forces. The contract marks the latest in a series of amendments, following six in 2023 and four in 2024.
