Danish authorities temporarily shut down Aalborg Airport overnight after a second drone alert in as many days, escalating fears that the country is facing what Prime Minister Mette Frederiksen described as “hybrid attacks.”
Airspace above the northern city was closed late Thursday, forcing a KLM flight from Amsterdam to turn back and canceling a Scandinavian Airlines departure from Copenhagen.
Police later reopened the airport, though officials have not confirmed the presence of drones. The incidents follow multiple unexplained drone sightings over Danish airports and a military base earlier this week.
Frederiksen warned that such incursions could intensify.
France pledged support, while EU leaders weigh a proposed “drone defense wall” to bolster continental security.
