Women’s organizations affiliated with Moroccan political parties have launched a series of meetings with party leaders to push for greater female representation in the 2026 legislative elections, Hespress has learned.
The consultations open Tuesday with Justice and Development Party secretary-general Abdelilah Benkirane, followed by Popular Movement leader Mohamed Ouzzine.
On Wednesday, women delegates are scheduled to meet with Authenticity and Modernity Party coordinator Fatima Zahra Mansouri, Socialist Union chief Driss Lachgar, and Istiqlal Party secretary-general Nizar Baraka. Additional meetings with the National Rally of Independents and the Party of Progress and Socialism are expected ahead of Thursday’s session between Interior Minister Abdelouafi Laftit and party representatives.
According to coalition coordinator Khadija Zoumi, the initiative unites women’s branches across ideological lines around a shared demand: achieving one-third representation for women in parliament as a step toward full parity enshrined in the Constitution.
