Leftist federation gathers 600 citizen proposals on electoral reform

The Federation of the Democratic Left announced it had received around 600 proposals from Moroccan citizens on possible amendments to the electoral code between August 5 and 27, 2025, through a digital platform it launched earlier this month.

According to the party, nearly two-thirds of the contributions focused on three main areas: ensuring integrity in the electoral process, updating voter rolls, and encouraging broader political participation. The remainder addressed issues such as rationalizing the party and political landscape, improving media and communication tools, enhancing women’s representation, and setting a clear timetable for upcoming elections.

The federation said a significant number of these ideas were incorporated into its official memorandum on the 2026 legislative elections. It emphasized that citizen involvement in the debate is not merely technical but reflects a political choice to strengthen transparency, credibility, and inclusive participation.
