Bayer Leverkusen is close to finalising the signing of Moroccan international Eliesse Ben Seghir from AS Monaco in a transfer valued at over 30 million euros, German media reported Friday. The move comes as the Bundesliga champions seek to reinforce their attack following the departure of Amine Adli.

Talks between the two clubs have intensified in recent days and reached a principle agreement, according to Sky Germany. Ben Seghir, 20, had rejected contract extension efforts in Monaco and expressed his wish to embrace a new challenge. Attracted by the prospect of playing under coach Erik ten Hag in Germany, he quickly gave his approval to Leverkusen’s project.

Monaco’s management has already begun searching for a replacement, having signalled that any new signings would depend on outgoing transfers. For Ben Seghir, the move represents an opportunity to revive his career and progress at the European elite level.
