Police in Agadir, working in coordination with Morocco’s General Directorate for Territorial Surveillance (DGST), arrested a 41-year-old man late Tuesday night on suspicion of assault with a bladed weapon.
According to a statement from the Agadir Police Department, the suspect, who has a criminal record, allegedly attacked his neighbor and the neighbor’s wife with stones and a knife during a dispute over neighborhood tensions.
Videos of the violent incident circulated widely on messaging apps, prompting public concern and drawing police attention.
The suspect was located and apprehended in the nearby city of Inezgane. He has been placed in custody pending a judicial investigation supervised by the public prosecutor’s office. Authorities are working to uncover the full circumstances and motives behind the attack.
