An appointment slip from Ibn Baja Regional Hospital in Taza scheduling a CT scan for April 2027 has provoked outrage on Moroccan social media.
The document, handed Monday to a 62-year-old woman, fixed the exam for 8:30 a.m. more than two years from now, prompting users to denounce what they called an absurd delay.
“You must book a scan two years before falling ill,” one comment read, while another joked about reserving in advance for future sickness.
Hospital director Amer Hasnaoui told Hespress that dates are set by a computerized system and attributed the backlog to overwhelming demand and a shortage of radiology staff, noting the hospital has only one radiologist.
He added that private clinics have not eased pressure despite universal health coverage. To reduce delays, he said the hospital plans to organize radiology caravans with additional specialists to bring some 2027 cases forward to 2026.
