Moroccan international Hakim Ziyech is weighing a return to the Dutch Eredivisie following his contract termination with Qatari side Al-Duhail earlier this year, according to Dutch journalist Mounir Boualline on “TransferPioniers.”
The 32-year-old attacking midfielder, without a club since May, is reportedly open to ending his career in the Netherlands, with Ajax seen as a natural destination given his successful spell there from 2016 to 2020.
Boualline also floated the possibility of Ziyech joining a smaller Dutch club such as Twente or Heerenveen, where he began his professional career, calling such a move a “full circle” moment that could give him a leadership role.
Ziyech joined Al-Duhail in January as a free agent, making 13 appearances, scoring once, and providing one assist before departing after just four months.
Italian journalist Nicolò Schira reports that Ziyech has been offered to three unnamed Serie A clubs, while interest has also emerged from Spain’s Celta Vigo, Italy’s Fiorentina, and Turkish side Besiktas, though no formal negotiations have been confirmed.
The former Chelsea midfielder, who won the Champions League in 2021, left the English club after four seasons, having joined from Ajax in a €40 million transfer.
