The number of traffic violations in Morocco has surged following the activation of a new bidirectional radar enforcement system by the National Road Safety Agency (NARSA), official data obtained by Hespress AR has revealed.

Since mid-June, when the system began tracking violations in both directions, authorities have reported a total of 62,251 violations committed by vehicles approaching the radars, as of August 5.

In addition, mobile towable radar units deployed beginning July 17 have recorded 14,238 more violations, bringing the total number of offenses to 76,489 during the period.

NARSA announced the rollout of the dual-directional system on June 16, introducing 90 new automated radars into operation across various regions.

The agency said in a public statement that the measure is part of ongoing efforts to enhance road safety across the country. The newly implemented system allows radars to detect speeding and other violations from both directions, vehicles approaching and moving away from the radar location.

NARSA emphasized that the initiative aims to ensure greater fairness in enforcement and equal treatment for all road users, regardless of their direction of travel.

The agency urged drivers to respect posted speed limits and comply with all traffic regulations to improve road safety nationwide.
