The Moroccan passport has advanced to 67th place globally, according to the latest Henley & Partners Passport Index, allowing its holders visa-free access to 73 destinations. This marks Morocco’s highest ranking in the last decade and its best performance since 2006, when it placed 66th worldwide.
The passport now ranks as the strongest in North Africa, ahead of Tunisia (72nd), Mauritania (79th), Algeria (92nd), Egypt (85th), and Libya (95th).
The Henley Passport Index ranks travel documents based on the number of countries their holders can enter without a visa or with visa-on-arrival privileges. The index is based on exclusive data from the International Air Transport Association (IATA), widely considered a reliable source in global mobility metrics.
In the Arab world, the United Arab Emirates continues to lead, placing eighth globally with access to 184 countries without a visa. Qatar followed at 47th, Kuwait at 50th, and both Saudi Arabia and Bahrain ranked 55th and 56th, respectively.
On the global scale, Singapore maintained the top spot, with its passport granting access to 193 destinations. Japan and South Korea shared second place, while a group of European countries, including France, Germany, Italy, and Spain — tied for third, with visa-free access to 189 countries.
At the bottom of the ranking, Afghanistan’s passport remained the least powerful, allowing access to only 25 countries. Syria, Iraq, Yemen, Somalia, and Pakistan followed closely with similarly limited mobility.
The continued rise of Morocco’s passport reflects an improvement in the country’s international standing and expanding diplomatic ties, which contribute to increased global mobility for Moroccan citizens.
