Morocco’s economy is in good shape, with positive indicators and growth set to exceed the 4% threshold this year, Minister of Economy and Finance, Nadia Fettah, said.
“We have been talking about resilience for a long time. Today, we are in a more advanced phase : a dynamic economy,” Fettah said in an interview published by Finances News Hebdo “FNH”.
According to the minister, these performances rest on solid foundations, mainly the diversification of sectors driven by His Majesty King Mohammed VI, which has started to bear its fruits.
“The integration in global value chains, the Kingdom’s affirmed ambition and the confidence it inspires count among the factors for stability,” she maintained, adding that despite the recent crises, Morocco carried its reforms, reinforced its appeal and facilitated investment.
As for return on investment, Fettah noted that public investments are conceived to be productive, citing as an example the Tangier Med port complex, considered a model to be replicated, notably with Nador West Med.
“In this type of project, we favor public-private partnerships whenever possible. We involve Moroccan companies, support local employment and integrate SMEs,” she said, adding that this is efficient spending that generates growth.
Turning to social spending, the minister recalled that it represents an investment in human capital. “It’s a clear choice on the part of the government: to build a social state while stimulating growth”, she stressed.
In terms of financing, Fettah estimated that capital markets needed to step up a gear, pointing out that the aim is to mobilize popular savings by offering citizens investment products tailored to their profile, to include them fully in the national momentum.
