Award-winning British-American filmmaker Christopher Nolan is currently in Dakhla, Morocco, continuing the filming of his new movie, “The Odyssey.”
He is joined by Hollywood stars Matt Damon, who plays Ulysses, and Zendaya, as production moves to the stunning White Dune site.
The Dakhla shoot marks the latest leg of “The Odyssey’s” global production. Filming began in February in Morocco’s Ouarzazate province, notably at Ksar Ait Ben Haddou, which is expected to portray the city of Troy in the film.
The team then moved to Italy, shooting in Sicily and on Favignana island, before heading to the Moroccan Sahara.
The White Dune, located 30 km from Dakhla city, is a remarkable site known for its captivating beauty and biodiversity.
This unique dune plunges into the lagoon, forming a small central lagoon, and is distinguished by its vast expanse of white sand that strikingly contrasts with the golden sand of the beach. It is within this exceptional setting that Ulysses’s adventures are now being filmed.
“The Odyssey” is already making waves for its unprecedented ticket sales. IMAX tickets for the highly anticipated film went on sale today, Thursday, July 17, exactly one year before its theatrical release.
This move is highly unusual in the film industry, where tickets typically become available only weeks before a movie hits theaters. Reflecting Nolan’s signature style seen in his Oscar-winning “Oppenheimer,” “The Odyssey” will also be screened in the high-quality 70mm film format at select cinemas.
