American actress, Gillian Anderson visited in Tangier on July 13, 2025 for a special charity event, where she performed in The Cherry Orchard, a famous play by Anton Chekhov written in 1904, a one-time performance directed by Rob Ashford.
Gillian shared the stage with well-known actors like Derek Jacobi, Penelope Wilton, Michelle Dockery, Harry Lloyd and more .
The event took place at the estate of designer Veere Grenney in Tangier.
The money raised went to local groups helping the community, including a children’s center, an HIV/AIDS organization, and the American Legation in Tangier.
Gillian Anderson, famous for roles like Dana Scully in The X-Files and Margaret Thatcher in The Crown, is active in both movies and theater. This performance shows her continued passion for live acting.
