Moroccan TikTok influencer Salma, widely known as “Zawjat Tipou,” passed away late Sunday night following complications from bariatric surgery in a private Turkish clinic.
The young mother of one, who had over 1.5 million followers, underwent gastric bypass surgery to combat severe obesity after years of health struggles and online bullying.
Her condition deteriorated rapidly post-operation, prompting hospitalization.
Videos she shared from her hospital bed, marked by pain and vulnerability, had already drawn widespread empathy online.
Her sudden death shocked thousands who had followed her journey. It also reignited public concern over the safety of cosmetic and weight-loss surgeries abroad, especially those promoted on social media without adequate warnings.
