A man fatally shot one person and wounded another in a violent attack Sunday in the town of Traiskirchen, about 32 kilometers south of Vienna, before taking his own life, Austrian police confirmed.
Local police spokesperson Johann Baumschlager told the Austrian Press Agency (APA) that the suspect fled the scene in a vehicle following the attack and later died by suicide.
The injured woman was transported to a hospital in Vienna for treatment. Authorities have not disclosed the extent of her injuries.
The motive behind the shooting remains under investigation. The Lower Austria State Criminal Investigation Office is leading the inquiry but has not released further details at this time.
According to Austrian media reports, the incident was preceded by a heated dispute among the three individuals involved.
