Morocco’s women’s national football team has advanced to the quarter-finals of the 2025 Women’s Africa Cup of Nations after defeating Senegal 1–0 on Saturday, July 12, in Rabat. The match, part of Group A’s third round, was decided by a first-half stoppage-time penalty converted by Yasmine Mrabet (45’+2).
With this result, the Atlas Lionesses top Group A with 7 points and are guaranteed to remain in Rabat for their quarter-final clash. The win caps a strong group stage performance that included two victories and a draw.
In the group’s other match, held simultaneously in Mohammedia, Zambia secured a 1–0 win over DR Congo and also advanced to the knockout stage.
Under head coach Jorge Vilda, Morocco continues to build momentum as tournament hosts, aiming to repeat or improve on their strong showing in the 2022 edition.
