Morocco’s economy grew by 4.6% year-on-year in the second quarter of 2025, according to the High Commission for Planning.
This growth was largely fueled by strong non-agricultural activities, especially in the services sector, which has outpaced its pre-2019 levels since 2022.
The construction sector posted a 6.8% increase, supported by large-scale infrastructure projects, while the extractive industry saw higher phosphate exports amid global fertilizer price tensions.
Agriculture grew by 4.7%, contributing 0.5 points to overall GDP growth, despite mixed crop performance due to erratic weather.
Cereal, vegetable, and sugar crop yields improved in irrigated areas, though some fruit and oilseed production declined. Livestock output remained subdued, except for slight gains in poultry.
Overall, value-added output rose at a pace similar to Q1 (+4.5%). In that period, national growth reached 4.8%, driven by agricultural recovery and domestic demand, which contributed 8.5 points, its highest post-COVID level. In contrast, external demand subtracted 3.8 points from growth.
