A senior Moroccan delegation participated in a week-long agricultural exchange in California from June 22 to 28, 2025, at the invitation of the National Association of State Departments of Agriculture (NASDA), which represents agricultural departments across all 50 U.S. states.

The visit marked a new milestone in U.S.–Morocco agricultural relations and followed a reciprocal NASDA mission to Morocco in January 2024.

Organized under the USDA’s Regional Agricultural Promotion Program, the initiative aimed to showcase the potential for technical and commercial collaboration between Moroccan and American stakeholders.

The Moroccan delegation included senior officials from ONSSA (National Food Safety Authority) and executives from leading agribusinesses.

Participants engaged in field visits, technical workshops, and major events like the Salinas Biological Summit, where they met California Agriculture Secretary Karen Ross.

The discussions emphasized cooperation on biosolutions, sustainable farming systems, climate-resilient agriculture, and food safety regulation. Innovation and technology were central themes, with a focus on AI applications in farming, water and soil management, and biotechnology.

Talks also addressed trade facilitation, including phytosanitary certification, product traceability, and quality control, areas critical to expanding exports. Moroccan stakeholders expressed interest in long-term partnerships with U.S. cooperatives, seed suppliers, and companies specializing in high-precision farming equipment and organic inputs.

Agricultural departments from Kansas and New Mexico, along with the Western United States Agricultural Trade Association, also joined portions of the exchange, providing additional regional insights.

The Almond Board of California and other specialized institutions offered demonstrations of advanced techniques relevant to Moroccan agricultural priorities.

The U.S. Embassy in Rabat, along with the California Department of Agriculture, coordinated the program, solidifying a multi-tiered cooperation framework. The mission reflected growing American interest in Morocco as a stable, strategic partner in Africa for agricultural development, food security, and market diversification.

Both sides expressed commitment to further exchanges and joint projects, underscoring shared priorities in sustainable agriculture, innovation, and trade facilitation.
