Morocco is home to a “very active” ecosystem of startups, companies and researchers working in AI, Minister Delegate in charge of Digital Transition and Administrative Reform, Amal El Fallah Seghrouchni, said on Wednesday in Salé.
“In a context marked by national enthusiasm for digitalization, we want to lay the foundation for a national artificial intelligence strategy that will allow us to design an efficient and ethical digital future,” Seghrouchni told MAP on the sidelines of the First National Conference on Artificial Intelligence, held under the High Patronage of His Majesty King Mohammed VI.
Noting that many countries have recognized that digital sovereignty requires the development of national AI strategies, she stressed that Morocco must chart its own path in this field, given the critical importance of aligning with global technological developments.
“The Kingdom plans to roll out this strategy nationwide in cooperation with European, African, Chinese and American partners,” she added.
Commenting on the two-day National AI Conference, Seghrouchni said the event aims to foster reflection, discussion and the sharing of experiences to better understand the challenges posed by these new technologies.
The platform, she added, has allowed participants to exchange views on key AI-related issues such as cybersecurity, food security, public safety, precision agriculture, fisheries production, health, education, art, culture and cultural industries.
