Abdellatif Hammouchi, Director General of Morocco’s National Security and Territorial Surveillance, hosted Ali Obaid Al Dhaheri, Head of the United Arab Emirates’ National Intelligence Service, on Tuesday in Rabat as part of a working visit aimed at boosting bilateral security ties.
The high-level Emirati delegation accompanied Al Dhaheri for discussions focused on enhancing operational cooperation, intelligence-sharing mechanisms, and coordination in combating emerging security threats, according to a joint statement from Morocco’s Directorate General of National Security (DGSN) and the General Directorate for Territorial Surveillance (DGST).
The two sides reviewed current and evolving threats, placing particular emphasis on terrorism risks in conflict zones, including those emanating from Africa’s Sahel and Sahara regions. They exchanged perspectives on shared security challenges and how to reinforce joint responses to address the rising terrorist activity in these volatile areas, which now pose concerns beyond neighboring states, threatening regional and global peace.
The meeting also provided an opportunity to evaluate security developments across the African continent and explore ways to deepen cooperation on counterterrorism efforts.
The talks, the DGSN-DGST statement emphasized, underscore a mutual commitment by Morocco and the UAE to consolidate their longstanding security partnership, and to expand cooperation in a manner that helps neutralize threats to the safety and stability of both countries at regional and international levels.
